Just a couple pages in, and I was already thinking “Damn!”
SPOILER WARNING!
So we start off with a rather interesting inner monologue of Apex. Yep, the one who recently turned into the big villain. Not counting Arcade who, despite being the one that put this together, really hasn’t been seen since the start. The rather odd split personality Apex as well. Hard to say who, but for anyone wondering it is Katy (the “evil” one) doing the monologue. About villains, and that a villain in their own mind doesn’t really see themselves as that horrid criminal.
Rather interesting, especially for a comic book that many times is pretty black/white in who is good and who isn’t. Granted, it gets even more interesting when Nico somehow pulls back together and starts tearing Apex to shreds. That’s right, Nico. The very same one whose rather apparent death just two issues back caused quite a bit of stir. Its quite a show, and even casual fans of Nico or the younger Avengers I really suggest you check this issue out if you haven’t already.
Speaking of returns, it seems despite my earlier comment that Arcade does make a return. Adding in a nice little spot of info for those confused on exactly what the hell just happened with Nico. Who cares really though, for you get almost a dozen full pages of Nico almost completely tearing Apex apart. Walker’s art inked by Beaulieu and Gorder during the entire thing is just fantastic. Its an amazing issue, and once again I highly suggest you check this out if you haven’t already! Only thing is the cliff hanger ending, while a little interesting, also feels like an annoying way to just drag things out.
