As already claimed, there isn’t much X-Men or Wolverine stuff in here. Not unless you count the “Grey school runaways” in this issue, which is the main focus. Its suppose to be a sort of anti or counter-Grey school. Oddly enough I feel like we get a better look at what school is actually like at the Hellfire Academy in the first half of this comic than we have for the Jean Grey School in the previous 30 issues! They get Intro to Evil with Mystique, Subjugation through Science with Dr. Sauron, Xenobiology with Dr. Starblood, P.E. with Dog Logan, Hell Lit with Master Pandemonium, Public Relations with Madame Mondo, Study Hall with Husk who is also the lunch lady, and midnight Danger Room with Wendigo. Not to mention creepy hall monitors. Brings in some questions to me like why is Husk there and suddenly so evil? Little lost on that one, unless its either done to be a mole or for she finally snapped due to the staff at Wolvy’s school not listening to her. Also it may be strange, but Sauron’s class looks extremely interesting, along with Pandemonium’s class.
Anyways despite the nice look at how this school runs with almost no peek at Wolverine and crew, its still a fun issue. A really fun issue that I haven’t really seen out of this series since… well since the start of Avenger’s vs. X-Men which began for this comic at #9 and ran through issue #18 (wow its hard to believe they spent that much time on AvX, damn!). Seeing the various classes is just a blast, not to mention the crap Quire tries to put them through while he’s use to more refrained teachers compared to super villains. In truth though, we’re seeing the changed side to Quire. That he’s really starting to look out for people other than himself. Had Hellfire Club started a lot earlier, it probably would be an entirely different game with Quire there.
For summary, this is a great comic and you should read it. Now! Go out and buy it. Also note the nice page on the back listing those at the school, as well as a full class list.
