My pull list for 2013! Please feel free to suggest a comic for me to check out or drop in the comments!
Last couple weeks I’ve really fallen behind in my comics, and so I pushed out a new pull list. One that, honestly, I hope by the end of March to shorten even more for the sake of money and mainly time issues. This is in no real order.
Haven’t read any of the new volume yet, but for those who don’t know/didn’t catch Comical Musing’s post about Scott earlier this week, well Cyke is one of my favorite Marvel characters. Add in Bendis who I’ve (mostly) really been enjoying his work, well I’m betting this will keep my attention.
All New X-Men
Another Bendis title. I admit the idea seemed a bit odd but I’ve been loving how Bendis has handled this so far.
Iron Man Like many, it was mainly the RDJ movies that got me into Iron Man, so with the new #1 I picked it up. Its been okay so far, but this is one I’ll probably drop. I’m mainly seeing how the new arc feels before setting the decision to drop or not into stone.
I hated this concept when I heard about it. Just hated it, but I’ve actually really been enjoying how Slott has been handling this so far. As long as this concept doesn’t drag on for too long, I’ll keep reading it. Seriously though, we need Peter back sooner or later!
Winter Soldier I absolutely loved Brubaker’s work on this series, and Bucky is up there as one of my favorite characters. As long as the new team handles this well, I’ll probably keep up with this.
This is here due to it being more or less the continuation of Avenger’s Academy. Once this Battle Royal arc is over though, I do hope the mood of this series lightens up and becomes more fun like A. Academy was…
This recent Reservation X stuff has grabbed my interest, especially as it revolves around Kitty who is one of my favorite Ultimate characters since her dealings with Ultimate Parker.
Ultimates President Captain America has been interesting so far. Deadpool I love Deadpool. I loved the last volume. This one… not so much so far. Nearly dropped it, but I’ll try to give it a few more issues and hope it picks up.
Limited series (4 issues) so this won’t be around for long, but so far I’ve been loving this.
OMG A DC TITLE! Yes, I mostly gave up on DC comics due to the “New 52” relaunch crap. But Nightwing is one of my favorite characters so I just couldn’t drop his title! Especially when he’s been handled well so far (though I still wonder where the hell his best friend Wally is!)
Wolverine and the X-Men
Its fun factor has dropped slightly since AvX, but its still been a really fun book that I plan to keep up with. Not to mention, its slightly crossed along with All New X-Men.
Young Avengers One of our readers here was pushing this to me as the continuation of Avenger’s Academy. Well, while its lacking the A. Academy crew (at least so far) I don’t want to just drop this after that first issue and will give this a little while to see how things turn out. Batman Oh snap, another DC title! There have been some big downs to this title (Court of Owls lasting too long as a big one), but overall this DC title has been wonderfully handled that despite being upset with DC, I just couldn’t drop this.
Batman & Robin (Bruce and Robin)
Yeah, Bruce and Robin for I absolutely loved Dick/Damian’s version of Batman & Robin, and save some issues (like the recent Annual) just don’t feel this has quite reached the level of the Dick/Damian team up. Its still been good, though I’m mainly keeping up with this due to Damian’s involvement and the love I grew for him while he was Grayson’s Robin.
Batman Inc. I’ll probably drop this as well. I always hated the Batman Inc idea after all, and this comic just isn’t doing wonders for me. Doesn’t help that I generally am mad at DC… Captain America Its been okay, but this will probably be cut. I mean Steve is a great character, but usually I only really enjoy seeing him in team up situations. Working with the Avengers, working with Bucky, etc. For me Steve is far better when he’s interacting with other heroes, than running solo.
Limited series so this won’t be on long. Its the tie in comic to the upcoming game, and its really interesting so far in how it can do a lot of things that just wouldn’t be allowed in the mainstream continuity.
Great series so far, and the first comic that made me actually care about Clint.
My final comic on the list, and the fifth DC title. Despite really being sad about Superboy being rebooted, I’ve absolutely love this new version of him so far and how his story has progressed. I’ll also note here that I will continue on with the other “Super” titles that tie into the H’el event until that’s over.
