Only two issues this part. Wolverine and the X-Men 15 and AvX 5 or 6. Forsome added content, I went back through the AvX issues to list the matches and winners of each one.
Wolverine and the X-Men #15
It is a good thing I read this after AvX (reviewed below). While this has quite a few serious moments, Jason Aaron nicely mixes in various comedic moments and writes the characters nicely. Moments with Broo and Uncle Tony, seeing previous Utopia mutants settling in, Xavier vs. Quire, and even Toad gets a nice little moment in this issue amongst the otherwise serious issue of the upcoming Phoenix battle. – 4.0
Avengers Vs. X-Men 5 of 6
Another set of rather dissapointing fights where the only real entertaining part was the “AvX fun fact fun fact” (yes they put fun fact twice) that the facts is done by 70 unpaid grad students. Beyond this AvX stuff being stretched out and the usual crossover problem of some issues being far behind others in terms of where the story is, this series HAS to be the weakest link of AvX. – 2.0
Fights:
Magneto/Iron Man – Iron Man
Narmor/Thing – Thing (Probably the most questionable win)
Gambit/Captain America – Cap. America
Colossus/Spider-Man Colossus
Colossus/Thing Colossus
Black Widow/Magik Magik
Daredevil/Psylocke ~~~Draw~~~
Thor/Frost Frost
Hawkeye/Angel Hawkeye
Black Panther/Storm ~~~Draw~~~
Avengers 4; X-Men 4; 2 draws
I really like Aaron’s W&TXM, but while the story is fun and competent (Unlike the crossover it’s tying into), the romantic pairings all seem to ring hollow. Can’t put my finger on it.
Bobby and Kitty seem a bit too soon to me. Wasn’t it just a few issues ago she was turning him down and saying he was too childish, and not too long back she went on the date with Piotr. To suddenly being all lovey-dovey now does seem a bit quick, or as you put it, hollow.
Otherwise maybe for I’m a bit exhausted from work, but are there other pairings you are talking about?
