Let me say upfront that I never had a strong background in the Wildstorm Universe. I read some of the early issues of Stormwatch. I read some of the Authority. But I don’t think I ever read any of Millar’s run on the book. While I’m not quite a Wildstorm newbie, the characters aren’t familiar to me.

When the DC Relaunch was announced, I didn’t get truly excited about it until I saw the “dark” books. Most of the early announcements were fairly similar to books DC was already publishing. But these off-beat titles showed promise. And Animal Man #1 delivers on that promise.

DC screwed up its relaunch already. This book should have been readers’ introduction to the DCnU, not last week’s Justice League. While Justice League #1 was an entertaining team-up between Batman and Green Lantern, it left a lot of readers wanting in the action department. But Action Comics #1 delivers all that and more.
