Review: Uncanny X-Men #3

Like Cal I’m popping out of limbo for a slightly delayed review of Uncanny X-Men #3.  While a review for #3, I will be touching up on 1 and 2 as well.
Spoiler Warning

So trying to play catch up last week with comics and there is a reason I’m stopping from that to write a review on this one.  Because its about damn time SOMEONE in the Marvel universe steps up to the freaking Avengers and actually points some blame at them for some of the Phoenix crap.  You know, not counting the Voldi putting Tony Stark on trial for actually killing the Phoenix.  Also like usual, I’m a bit confused how Tony Stark is here in Australia while also being on trial in space.  Or that matter Captain America spending 11+ years in some alternate dimension.  But that’s the beauty of comics, timelines often never make sense!

Anyways sure, its Emma who stepped up and started it, and I’ve never been a big Emma fan.  Gotta admit I freaking love her for this!  I’ve been waiting for something beyond news images and Quentin Quire wearing “Cyclops was Right” shirts.  Something or someone finally willing to step out and point a finger at the Avengers for I do believe a lot of what happened in AvX was due to what they did.  Especially Captain America.  As such I found it amazing someone stepped up to his face and called him out on it.  Even if the moment was brief.  The subsequent time out, just kind of funny even if it did put an end to finally giving Cap some blame.

So far its not been bad.  Issue one tosses us a curve that kind of made me have a “WTF were they thinking moment”, and also served to give updates to what happened as well as introduce a new character.  Issue two mostly seemed set up to help put things into perspective with the new “school” as well as character relations.  This one moved things a little further with an Avenger’s confrontation.  Also, I’m just going to be out with it.  Magneto’s powers seemed to be weaker than they were.  Yes, the “Phoenix Five” also have powers altered, but they were actual vessel’s for the Phoenix.  What exactly happened to Magneto to mess up his powers though?  Was it really just the stupid thought that he spent time close to the Phoenix Five?

Be prepared for next issue where they visit Avenger’s Tower to clog the toilet and swap around the underwear drawers!
