Interesting article, but you were not betrayed by Kevin Smith – you were betrayed by your own youthful assumption that Kevin Smith would forever and always conform to your own impressions of him. There’s a huge distinction.
Agreed.
The title actually comes from a series. It’s not meant to be literal.
Although my 20-something self would probably feel differently if he were here today and saw Comic Book Men or heard Smith talk about doing Clerks 3 as a stage production. But then, my 20-something self got way too upset about these sorts of things.
Ah, I see the “betrayed” conceit now. Cool. My bad.
It could have been more clear. But “Kevin Smith failed to meet the expectations of my youthful idealism” didn’t have the same ring to it.
