Wow! It’s already come and gone. I thought I’d just give my report on my experience. But don’t expect to see any pictures of fat, sweaty guys, dressed in 300 “costumes.” No, my Comic Con involved laughter, love, and chatting with the talent.
Sketch-A-Palooza!
Aaron Lopresti’s Wonder Woman!
Francis Manupal’s Cassie Sandsmark!
Jonboy’s Meyers’ Wonder Woman!
Nicola Scott’s Scandal Savage! Hey, it’s signed by Gail Simone too!
Patrick Gleason’s Soranik Natu!
19 sketches in two days, for a total of 80 dollars. Not too bad, right? I think I did good.
And you have to get stuff signed!
Now, the only signature I need on my Sinestro Corps War hardcovers is Ivan Reis.
Green Lantern symbols provided by Geoff Johns.
And she put a Wonder Woman star over her “i”. How precious! Terry Dodson and Bernard Chang have pretty signatures too.
Terry Dodson calls Frank Cho a perv!
The war is on. Which artist will win?
Greg Rucka gave me a free copy of Detective Comics #854!
So, I was standing in line for Jamal Igle at the DC Booth, when Greg Rucka shows up next to me! We talked. I said I was sad since I didn’t have anything for him to sign. He went into his magic bag and pulled that out. Sweet, huh?
So, there you have it, friends. I had a hell of a time, and you got to see my reward for fighting through the unkempt masses. Thanks for reading!

Pure awesome, dude. Thanks for sharing the sketches! I love Conner’s PG!
And how cool is Rucka?
So, is Power Girl your favorite?
I like it a lot too. I tried to get an actual paid sketch from her, but she ran out of time. So, she did that really quick. It’s simple, but I still love it.
Yeah, I was lucky that I actually know what Greg Rucka looks like. It was fun seeing him get pissed at the people cutting in front of me in line.
It was Sunday, last day of con. They’re animals by that point. It’s like a battle.
I had a tough time picking a favorite. Lisner’s Batman is pretty damn sweet. But I like the simplicity of Conner’s PG. If I had to pick, I think that may be my favorite of the bunch.
Yeah, that’s a lucky break about Rucka. I’m not sure I would recognize him in a crowd.
I actually can’t stand crowds. I don’t think I’d fare well at Comic Con.
Those are some pretty bad-ass sketches. Conner’s PG is deceptively simple, but gorgeous. Lots of great stuff there.
Nice to hear props on Linsner’s Batman.
I’ll have to think about my favorite.
And, DC, if you don’t like crowds, just bring an electric cattle prod. That’s what I do.
[...] Top 5 Best Comics of July 2009! By brucecastle June was a quick month, but July? July took forever, in a good way. Extremely eventful month for me. Hope you all had fun. Anyway, I read 22 comics in July, and these were the best. Oh, and, sorry, I haven’t written proper reviews for some of these because I was at Comic Con. [...]
